COMPUTER NETWORKING & CYBER SECURITY

 

INTRODUCTION TO IT & NETWORKING

Grades 9, 10 - 1 Credit – Semester This course may offer Running Start college credit through the NH Community College System – 3 credits Students use multiple learning formats to learn how to install, manage, and secure computer hardware and master home and corporate OS environments. Course content includes loading and using software and running diagnostics to resolve problems on personal and business computers. Students will learn how to troubleshoot complicated computer problems and how to build or improve computer systems. Students with an interest in careers in networking or IT support are encouraged to sign up. This course prepares students for the TestOut PC Pro and CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902 certification exams (CCC) IT & NETWORKING

 

IT & NETWORKING 1

Grades 10, 11, 12 - 1 Credit – Semester This course may offer Running Start college credit through the NH Community College System – 3 credits This course introduces the basic concepts and principles of computer networking. Students will learn home network installation technician skills as well as for a small business. It presents an overview of networking terminology, examines different networking environments, discusses the physical components of computer networks and reviews the principles of network connectivity. This course is part one of the two-course sequence that prepares students for the TestOut Network Pro certification exam and CompTIA's N10-006 certification exam.

IT & NETWORKING 2

Grades 10, 11, 12 - 1 Credit – Semester This course may offer Running Start college credit through the NH Community College System – 3 credits This course is a continuation of IT & Networking I, with increased focus on the installation and configuration of local and wide area networks in a small business environment. Topics include an introduction to routing using the Cisco IOS, expanded OSI model, Help Desk, Network Upgrades, expanded IP sub-netting and the purpose and responsibilities of the Internet Service Provider. This course is part two of the two-course sequence that prepares students for the TestOut Network Pro certification exam and CompTIA's N10-006 certification exam.

CYBER SECURITY

This course is the culmination of the Networking and Cyber Security program. This course offers in-depth coverage of current risks and threats to an organization’s data along with a structured way of safeguarding these assets. It provides the theoretical and historical background necessary to understand the various types of risks as well as the hands-on, practical techniques such ethical hacking and penetration testing for working in the security field. This course will prepare students to take the CompTIA security+ exam.
